چکیده
In this work, a numerical model for the simulation of two-phase electrohydrodynamic (EHD) problems is proposed. It characterized by physically consistent treatment surface tension as well jump in electric material properties. The formulation based on finite element method enriched with special shape functions, capable accurate capturing discontinuities both fluid pressure and gradient potential. Phase interface is, thus, represented zero-thickness boundary. proposed methodology allows modeling force an interfacial one, strictly abiding physics. approach tested using droplet deformation benchmarks. Moreover, application to study three-dimensional (3D) case, not symmetry revolution, shown. defines basis wide range EHD problems.

Accurate multiscale finite element methods for two-phase flow simulations
In this paper we propose a modified multiscale finite element method for two-phase flow simulations in heterogeneous porous media. The main idea of the method is to use the global fine-scale solution at initial time to determine the boundary conditions of the basis functions. This method provides a significant improvement in two-phase flow simulations in porous media where the long-range effect...
متن کاملTwo-phase electrohydrodynamic simulations using a volume-of-fluid approach: A comment
A numerical methodology to simulate two-phase electrohydrodynamic flows under the volume-of-fluid paradigm is proposed. The electric force in such systems acts only at the interface and is zero elsewhere in the two fluids. Continuum surface force representations are derived for the electric field force in a system of dielectric–dielectric and conducting–conducting fluids. On the basis of analyt...
متن کاملAn adaptive local-global multiscale finite volume element method for two-phase flow simulations
Multiscale solution methods are currently under active investigation for the simulation of subsurface flow in heterogeneous formations. These procedures capture the effects of fine scale permeability variations through the calculation of specialized coarse scale basis functions. Most of the multiscale techniques presented to date employ localization approximations in the calculation of these ba...

An Adaptive Level Set Approach For Incompressible Two-Phase Flows
In Sussman, Smereka and Osher (1994), a numerical method using the level set approach was formulated for solving incompressible two-phase ow with surface tension. In the level set approach, the interface is represented as the zero level set of a smooth function; this has the e ect of replacing the advection of density, which has steep gradients at the interface, with the advection of the level ...
